How to use Find and Replace

How to use the find and replace tool to easily make bulk changes across your articles

Purpose

Handling bulk changes can be a real headache once you've got a bunch of articles out there. Imagine you've just rolled out a new product called "Oranges" and want to link to it every time it's mentioned to drive traffic. Doing that manually across all your articles would be a huge time suck! Our Find and Replace tool is here to save you hours of time when making bulk changes.

💡
Pro Tip: You can use the Find and Replace tool to guide readers from high-traffic articles to high-conversion or bottom-of-funnel articles designed to convert.

Set Up

To use the Find and Replace tool, you’ll need to ensure your blog articles are in Letterdrop (you can check by going to Website → Posts). If you're integrated with a CMS, they'll be imported automatically; otherwise, you can manually copy and paste them into Letterdrop using the blog editor or have them populate as you write new posts.

How to Use

Enter the term you're searching for, then hit Enter or click on the magnifying glass to begin your search. Once the results appear, you can choose whether to make the search case sensitive and whether to include the first match, hyperlinked text, non-hyperlinked text, and headings. Please note: the Find and Replace tool only searches within the body of articles, not in article titles.

To view full articles, simply click on the hyperlinked title under the Page column. When you're ready to make changes, use the checkbox on the left to select the edits you want to apply. These selected changes will then appear in a list at the bottom of the page for you to bulk select and publish.

Pro Tip: here are some scenarios where the Find and Replace tool can save you loads of time:
  • You've updated the name of a feature and want to replace the old name with the new one throughout your blog articles.
  • You're launching a new product and want to link to its landing page or article every time a certain term is mentioned. You can use that term as the consistent anchor text for the link.
