How to use AI in Letterdrop

Best practices to follow and pitfalls to avoid when using AI in Letterdrop, as well as marketing in general.

Leveraging AI in Marketing

At Letterdrop, we're often asked how best to leverage AI within our platform and in general in marketing. From our experience working with over 100 B2B marketing teams, here are the dos and don’ts of using AI to generate content that will drive results.

What AI is good for:

1. Research

AI excels at researching large amounts of data from web pages, videos, or calls to save you hours of manual work. When you enter a keyword in Letterdrop’s SEO Optimization tool, we will analyze top-ranking articles on Google, break it into its component topics, identify information gaps in your article, and help you understand what you need to cover to provide a complete answer for better ranking.

The SEO Optimizer will also identify and address common questions from searches by generating draft content to answer “People Also Ask” questions associated with your keyword.

If your subscription includes the Idea Generator integration for Gong, we'll analyze your Gong calls to generate content ideas and themes. These insights will help you create content that addresses common questions raised during sales calls.

2. Remixing

AI also excels at repurposing content and turning it into a different format. With Letterdrop, you can quickly transform webinars and other long-form video or text content into blog articles or LinkedIn posts. In the blog editor, you can easily whip up a blog post from YouTube, Loom videos, or audio files.

3. Ideation

AI can be used to spark new ideas and be a sounding board. When you enter a keyword in the SEO Optimizer, we’ll surface ideas for what you can write about to cover topics that your search competition is missing to help you rank for the keyword.

If your subscription includes the Idea Generator integration for Gong, we’ll recommend relevant content for your sales team to share with their prospects after calls.

What AI should not be used for:

1. Unreviewed content

If a human hasn’t read through and edited the content, you shouldn’t put it in front of your customers unless you’re okay with turning a lot of people away. We discourage publishing anything that hasn’t been edited and reviewed after initial generation using AI.

2. Truthful data

It’s difficult to determine what is in any AI model’s training set- GenAI can contain inaccuracies or hallucinate and make up things. Even ChatGPT has a footnote that says “ChatGPT can make mistakes. Consider checking important information.” When generating a draft in Letterdrop using a keyword and brief, we’ll include a note to remind you that you should verify any information you provide in the brief, since there is no way to tell or dispute if it is true or not.

3. Addressing the nuances of your audience and industry

AI doesn't have the same depth of knowledge about your products and target audience as you do. While it's great for research, make sure to double-check content accuracy and relevance using your expertise. In Letterdrop, if content created using the Outline Generator doesn't match your topic, review your keyword strategy and seek advice from subject matter experts.

Conclusion

In the movie 'The Incredibles', Syndrome famously says, 'When everyone is a superhero, no one will be.' This sentiment rings true for AI in today's marketing scene—almost everyone is leveraging it.
