How to SEO optimize an article

To utilize the SEO Optimizer, click the "SEO Optimization" button located at the top-right corner. If you haven't already, enter your primary keyword. You can also click the + button to include secondary keywords. Finally, click "Analyze" to proceed.

Now, let’s go through the different sections of the Optimizer:

The Search Intent section helps you determine the type of search intent: Informational, Navigational, Commercial, or Transactional. It also outlines the typical article formats and indicates the likelihood of lead conversion, reflecting the article's position in the sales funnel.

The "What Should You Cover" section will research the top-ranking articles for your keyword to help you quickly cover important points, add new insights, as well as increase your chances of ranking and showing up in Google’s featured snippets. To view the referenced top-ranking articles, click on the three dots. If you want to exclude any of them, you can deselect them by clicking on the tick. Here’s a rundown on each tool you can use:

This tool will summarize topics from those high-ranking articles. Any topics you've already covered light up in blue. For new topics, just hit the "+" button for an AI-generated first draft. Hover over the cards to peek at the source, and after edits, click "check coverage" to refresh.

Awesome! You've hit content parity, so now it's time to make your article shine with fresh insights that set it apart from the rest and boost your ranking potential. This section offers a brainstorm of ideas for you to sift through. If any resonate, paraphrase them and work them into your article. Below "Why are you writing this article?", you can offer a prompt to fine-tune the suggestions.

Want to climb the ranks in Google search? Answering questions from their featured snippet and "People Also Ask" is key. We'll automatically identify those questions for you so you can provide the answers. To generate a draft for any section, simply click the plus button to add it directly into your text.

If you're unsure about which headers to use, this tool has you covered. It identifies H1s, H2s, and more from top-ranking pages. To insert any of them into your article, simply click on the title.

Lastly, ensure you're incorporating common terms from the top pages. While keyword stuffing won't guarantee ranking these days, it helps to cover your bases. You can toggle "Highlight terms in editor" to spot where these words are mentioned. If you click on a chip, you can see examples of where they appear in the top articles and on what pages.

Readability is crucial for ranking. This section assists in making your post more SEO-friendly by suggesting fixes. For certain fixes, like adding a target keyword in the title or a TLDR, click "Fix" for an auto-generated suggestion. We'll highlight it in your article for you to accept or decline. You can also click "Fix all broken rules" to address all suggestions at once. For tasks like adding images, you'll need to handle those yourself.

If you make any adjustments, you can update the technical SEO checker by clicking the refresh button.

In this section, we'll provide a summary of stats from the top-ranking pages. Simply click on this icon to copy any of them for pasting into your article.

To simplify internal linking, we'll analyze your article's body and suggest words that could link to other articles in your CMS. Click "Show in Editor" to highlight recommended words for linking. Then, simply click the tick to automatically add them in.

Lastly, we'll scan the web to pinpoint any pages with overlapping words. Review pages with significant overlap to check for plagiarism. Minor overlap is often common and not a cause for concern.
